"Grandma June" Kratzer, 82, died Saturday, May 30, 2015.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in Byron City Cemetery, 100 Murdock Lane in Byron, with Rev. Jay Lauritsen officiating. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, June 1, 2015, at Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron.

Born in Winchester, Kentucky, to the late Price Welch and Ruby Brown Puckett, Mrs. Kratzer was formerly employed with the Peach County Recreation Department as assistant manager of North Peach Park. Her family will always remember her as a great wife and mother, and the "World's Best Grandma." She spent her time assisting with the Girl Scouts in Byron and transporting players to county, state and regional softball tournaments for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John Kratzer; daughter, Katherine Courtney (Charlie) of Gallion, Alabama; grandchildren, Stacie White (Kenny) of Byron, Billy Rose of Worth County, April McCullen (Marty) and Joe Courtney (Jodi), both of Linden, Alabama, Christopher Rose and Samantha Rose, both of Byron; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Rose, James Courtney, Bradley Gill, Breanna Gill, Jason Courtney, Chelsey Courtney, Tristan Courtney, Carson White, Mason White, Addyson White, and Pierson White; two great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Larry Puckett of Byron, Barbara Rainey of Florida, Dorlene Kennon, Arthur Welch, Ronnie Welch, and Terry Welch, all of Kentucky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She is preceded in death by a son, Gregory Allen Rose, daughter, Debra Rose Sledge, son, Billy Dale Rose, sister, Joyce Puckett, brother, Bucky Welch, and great grandchildren, Chase White, Cheyenne White, and Hope White.

Rooks Funeral Home in Byron is in charge of arrangements.
