Sarah I. Jeffries, 98, of New Castle passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 following a brief stay at the Henry County Hospital.

She was born April 17, 1917 in Kennard to the late Wayne and Matilda (Weaver) Hagerman.

Sarah graduated from Ball State University with a degree in ducation and taught 3rd and 5th grade at Michigan City and Pendleton. Always eager to learn more about any subject or person, Sarah continued to lovingly “teach” family and friends throughout her life. She loved to travel and had a special interest in geography and maps. Sarah touched the lives of many as friend, Aunt Sarah and “Mom”.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Jeffries; many nieces nephews, as well as great great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her New Castle Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Jeffries; brothers, Charles, George, Frank and James Hagerman; and a sister, Beulah Hill.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care Sarah received by the Glen Oaks Health Campus staff; nurses and doctors of Henry County Hospital ICU; and Jason with Henry County Hospice.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to donors favorite charity.
