Clara Platts Parkin, known as Clarie, was born Nov. 5, 1922 in Lyman, WY to George K. and Vera Jenks Platts. She passed away May 22, 2015 from complications related to Alzheimer’s.

After her father died, Clarie’s mother moved her family to Bountiful, where she met her sweetheart, Glenn Parkin. They were married on Jan. 24, 1943. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Clarie and Glenn adopted one son, Jeffery.

Because Jeffery was the cheerleading coach for the University of Utah, Clarie was a devoted U of U fan. She attended many University athletic events from gymnastics to football, and ONLY wore outfits that included red. Clarie held various jobs in the community such as car hop at the “Old Curve Inn” in Bountiful, and Hill Air Force Base. Clarie was very successful at selling Sara Coventry Jewelry. At one time, she was top 10 in the nation for jewelry sells. Although Clarie did not like to fly, her career in jewelry sells had her traveling to various destinations such as the Bahamas, Niagara Falls, and Hawaii. She spent the last four years at Heritage Place Care Center where she was loved by the staff on the memory care unit.

Clarie was preceded in death by husband Glenn, son Jeffery, sister Hope Platts Matthew, and brother Glen Platts. She is survived by her brother Raymond Platts, In-laws Bruce and Sharral Parkin, and Max and Yvonne Parkin. Clarie had many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were very special to her.
