-IN DEATH-
Elizabeth Taylor Wirt
Funeral services for Elizabeth Taylor Wirt, 86, were held at the Vincent Funeral Home in Stillwater, Sunday afternoon, October 31, 1936, in Wichita, Kan. Interment was in Fairlawn cemetery.
Elizabeth Taylor Wirt was born in Washington Courthouse, O., on December 15, 1849, and later moved to Toulon, Ill., with her family, where she grew to womanhood.
In 1873 she was married to George Alfred Wirt, moving to Marshall, Minn., where six children were born to them, two sons passing away in infancy. In 1885 the family moved to a farm near Winfield, Kan., where the youngest child was born. In 1894 the family again moved, this time to Springdale, Ark., where her husband died from wounds he had received in the Union army during the Civil war.
Left a widow in the prime of life, and her youngest child less than 2 years of age, she showed her bravery and resourcefulness by keeping the family together. She educated the children the best she could, and reared them to manhood and womanhood.
In 1908 she returned to Winfield to live with a daughter, and in 1917 she went to Winfield to make her home, living in the College Hill Methodist church community, where she continued to take an active interest in all church work.
