Son of William Elliott and Mary "Minnie" Fowler, husband of Audrey Nelson Osborn, the daughter of Robert Arthur Osborn and Josefa Howard Neilson, whom he married on May 9, 1920 in Manhattan, New York, and father of John and Osborn Elliott.

In 1900, John Elliott, aged 9, was living at 522 West End Avenue, Manhattan, New York, in the home of his parents, William Elliott, aged 41, and Minnie F. Elliott, aged 38, with his brother, William Elliott, aged 4. His father was shown to be a banker.

In 1910, John Elliott, aged 19, was living at 522 West End Avenue, Manhattan, New York, in the home of his parents, William Elliott, aged 51, and Minnie F. Elliott, aged 48, with his brother, William Jr. Elliott, aged 14, and cousin, Douglas A. Elliott, aged 16, and servants, Kate Daly, aged 28, Mary Morris, aged 23, and Katherine Daly, aged 5. His father was shown to be living on his own income.

Marriage - Elliott - Osborn - Miss Audrey Osborn, of Manhattan and Bellport, L.I., and John Elliott of Manhattan, were married yesterday in the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Manhattan. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Robert Osborn. Her attendants were the Misses Mercedes Hernandez de Acosta and Eleanor Lamsen. William Elliott was his brother's best man.

In 1930, John Elliott, aged 39, a banker, was living at East 47th Street, Manhattan, New York, with his wife, Audrey Elliott, aged 36, and children, John Elliott, aged 9, and Osborn Elliott, aged 5, and servants, Nathalie McLean, aged 62, Mary Cary, aged 64, Laura Leggett, aged 26, and Julia Ryan, aged 48.

In 1940, John Elliott, aged 49, an executive investments counselor, was living on 62nd Street, New York, New York, with his wife, Audrey O. Elliott, aged 45, real estate sales, and children, John Elliott Jr., aged 19, and Osborn Elliott, aged 15.

Obituary - John Elliott, 88, a retired investment counselor and for many years a familiar figure in the civic and business affairs of the city, died yesterday at his home on E. 62d Street. A Harvard graduate, he became a partner in Kidder, Peabody & Co., and later was an investment counselor with Scudder, Stevens & Clark, both Wall Street investment houses. He was a trustee of the New York Zoological Society. Elliott is survived by two sons, John Jr., chairman of Ogilvy & Mather International Inc., and Osborn, former chairman of Newsweek and a Deputy Mayor in the Beame administration. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. James Church here. Burial will be in Bellport, L.I.
