Son of Samuel Wise (1781-1841). Early settler of Carroll County, Indiana with his father. They migrated to Carroll County in the mid-1820s. David purchased his own 82.04 acres tract from the Government Land Office in 1832.
He married Elizabeth Musselman December 29, 1836. In the 1870 census, he was listed in Deer Creek Township and his real estate was worth $18,030. They had five children: Aaron, Susan, Elizabeth, John Daniel, and Hester aka Hettie Greider.
