Daniel James Sullivan, son of Charles and Anna Sullivan, was born in Adams county, May 23, 1888 and passed away Friday evening, May 8th at Harmony Hill Rest Home, Stanberry Missouri at he age of 71 years, 11 months and 13 days.
He grew to manhood in the Mercer Center vicinity and was engaged in farming until failing health forced him to retire and move to his home west of Corning. He spent some time in Rosary hospital, and entered the rest home nearly four years ago.
He is survived by his wife; five children, Bernard of Atlantic, Iowa, Elizabeth Breitenfeldt of Prosser, Washington, Helen Finsen of Sitka, Alaska, Mary Patricia Collins of Maryville, Missouri and Maurice Daniel of Prescott, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren: a brother, William of Corning; two sisters, Nellie Jackson of Seattle, Washington and Frances Williams of Tacoma, Washington. One son, Joseph Charles, died in infancy.
Services were held Monday, May 9, 1950 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's church in Corning, Iowa, with Fr. Bonaventure Bolda officiating. Pallbearers were George Edwards, George Martin, John Bridgeman, Florence McKay, Leo Ryan and Jim O'Reily. Interment was in Calvary cemetery south of Corning.
