Rachel Harris Roark, 79, of 1134 Old Pump Station Road, Union, widow of Brady Roark, died Friday, May 19, 2006, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Roark was born in Union, January 27, 1927, the daughter of the late James Wallace Harris and Nannie Mae Gault Harris. She was a graduate of Kelly Pinckney School, Spartanburg Methodist College and retired from United Merchants - Union Plant after 42 years of service. Mrs. Roark was a life-time member of Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church where she received Mother of the Year Adward on Mothers Day, May 17, 2006 and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She was a three times Cancer Survivor and a member of the Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church Relay for Life Team.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Roark and wife Trina of Jonesville and Keith Roark and wife Gerri of Union; a daughter, Cornelia Ford and husband Danny of Union; two sisters, Ada Adams and Dorothy Morris both of Union; two brothers, Manual Harris and Curtis Harris both of Union; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Roark was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, Sarah Howell, Lillian Wix, Everette Harris, Frank Harris and Douglas Harris.
