Albert Phillips was a shoemaker, a farmer, and Postmaster. Albert was also a correspondent with many local newspapers, reporting on activities of the Bear Creek, Bennett and Ramseur areas, using the pen name Long Shanks. Albert was received as a member of Bennett Baptist Church in July 1912, he married Sarah Campbell in 1861.
