On October 7, 1876, he married Frances Saloma Hare. They had 12 children: Johnnie Pleasant; Jacob Henry, who died at the age of two years; Georgia Annie; Susie; twins Lincoln and Abraham; Louis Edgar, who died in infancy; Maggie Mae, who died at the age of one year; Albert; Alma; Frances Saloma, who died at birth or soon after; and Gladys Lena.
Additionally, they raised three of their grandchildren, the children of their daughter Georgia Annie Zinn Hockett: George Thomas Hockett, Jesse Cecil Hockett, and Sara Angie "Zelma" Hockett .

George Zinn Dead - George Zinn, who was one of the oldest residents of the western part of the county, died at his home near Amsterdam Monday after a protracted illness with Bright's disease. Funeral services and interment at Adam Howell cemetery. Mr. Zinn was the father of 15 children, ten of whom survive, and has 56 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had been a resident of Bates county since before the Civil War, having settled in Bates county in 1853. He was 78 years and 11 months of age. He had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church for the past 22 years.
