Alson enlisted in the US Army Air Corp (later the Air Force) on April 1, 1941 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. WWII campaigns include; Algeria Fr M. Campaign, Tunisian Campaign, Naples-Foggia Campaign, Rome-Arno Campaign. Decorations/Citations include; 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct, American Defense Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, Meritorious Service Wreath & Pre-Pearl Harbor Medal. Retiring after 22 years, he then spent 20 years in PA Law Enforcement. His NRA Police Firearms certificates include Expert, Marksman & Sharpshooter ratings.

Alson's ashes are buried with his brother, Robert, in Willamette, with a small vial buried with his grandson, Alan Gillette, in PA & 2 vials given to his great-grandson, Steven (one for Steven to keep and the other to be buried with Alson's beloved wife, Margaret).
