She entered the University of Arizona at age 16. She was also a state championship tennis player in Arizona. She left university studies to attend St Joseph's Hospital for nurse's training and joined the last class of the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.

She was predeceased by her parents, William Bliss Travis and Dorothy Sarah Day Travis; her husband of 65 years, Laddie Marin; a son, Robert Travis Marin; and a brother and sister. She was survived by one daughter; five sons; two brothers; two sisters; a brother-in-law; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment on September 25, 2015.
