Known as the voice of the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee from 1981-2002. Dr. Cameron was an English professor at The University of Dayton for over 30 years.

"He really loved the bee because of the kids," Brian Conniff, chair of the English department said. "The kids are not particularly cool, but they had a skill that he could connect with."

His fellow professors described him as a humble, often soft spoken person, but his close friends knew him to be merciless with puns, with a dry sense of humor and a love for conversation.
