Lawrence was an Eagle Scout and as an adult became a Troop leader in Spokane. He was married on 20 April 1951. He died at age 24 during the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lt. He was killed in action in North Korea. Friends and relatives who survived him included a wife and baby daughter in Spokane. There's a cook-out memorial dedicated to him near the west end of Mirror Pond in Manito Park, Spokane, WA.
