Bernard Szold Former Actor is Dead at Age 66

VICTORIA, Tex. (AP)—Bernard Szold, former actor and drama coach of better known Hollywood Stars, died of a heart attack after a minor auto accident Tuesday night. He was 66.

He was Director of the Victoria Clvlc Theater and the accident happened as Szold was en route home from a rehearsal of his latest play—"Outward Bound" a fantasy dealing with death.

Although Szold suffered a heart attack seven month's ago he was believed to have recovered. After the traffic mishap he stepped from his car and collapsed.

Szold coached such stars as Gregory Peck, Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, Henry Fonda, Ann Miller, Dorothy Maguire, Forrest Tucker, Judith Anderson and Jeff Chandler.

Films in which he played included "The Lemon Drop Kid," "The Tanks are Coming," "Black Tower" and "Union Station." On television he appeared in the Death Valley series.

His "Sons of Yesteryear" had won the Maxwell Anderson play contest.

Szold also had directed the Cain Park Theater in Cleveland, La Petit Theater in New Orleans, The Omaha Community Playhouse, Birmingham Theater, Del Monte (Calif) Summer Theater, Actors Company Theater in La Jolla, Calif. and Rocky Mountain Summer Theater in Estes Park, Colo

He leaves his Widow and Daughter, Stephanie, of California.
