Actually he was born in a boat in the middle of the river between Clifton, Tennessee and Corinth, Mississippi. He was the second child of 5, but his older brother James Barry died a few days age. His parents were Charles E. Ferrell (born 1854; died Dec. 10 1926) and Julia Darling Barry (born July 23, 1859 and died Feb 18, 1931). He married Mary Ophelia Ponder (born Feb 3, 1885; died April 10, 1972) September 7, 1902 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. They had 3 children: Claude, Edna and Edwin. His children and grandchildren called him, "Papa."
