Lionel Ulbert Bishop, 92, Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Bishop was born in Scott County, VA on August 23, 1922; son of the late Hiram and Dory Hammonds Bishop.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Frankie Lane Bishop preceded him in death.
Surviving Mr. Bishop is his daughter, Linville Bishop, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Phyllis Morris and husband, Larry, FL and Shirley Barker, Ohio; brother-in-law, O.D. Tipton, Kingsport, TN; along with two special nieces, Brenda Dingus and husband, Ronnie, Gate City, VA and Sharon Hicks and husband, Tony, Dunlap, TN.
The family will receive friends from 12-1p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jay Bowen, Rev. Toby Reed, and Rev. Gary Hunley officiating. Gary Hunley will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marble Point Church, 1302 Daniel Boone Road, Gate City, VA 24251.
