He was born Nov. 22, 1908, in Kellner, Wis., to Frank and Louise (Henke) Manke. On April 27, 1934, in Huntley, he married Helen D. Kahl.
He was a member, for 65 years, of trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley. He was a farmer in Huntley, retiring in 1965. After his retirement, he worked for eight years for Wabash Tape in Huntley.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Vernon (Joyce) of McHenry and Edward (Mary) of Marengo; two daughters, Marlene (Richard Sr.) Pump of Hampshire and Donna (James) Ketchmark of Huntley; six grandchildren, Bryan Manke, Todd (Alyson) Manke, Jodi Manke, Jameson Ketchmark, Beth Ketchmark and Richard Pump Jr.; a great-grandchild, Teresa Grace Manke; two sisters, Elsie Ainsworth of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Clara Joosten of Woodstock.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Irvin Jr.; a sister, Mabel Brandt; and three brothers, Roy, George and Wilbur.
The visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley, with the Rev. Charles W. Kittel officiating. Burial will be in Huntley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Stewardship Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church or to Provena Hospice, Elgin.
