Jerome (Jerry) Aloysius Meyer, age 79, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

He was born on March 13, 1933 in Cato, WI, the son of the late George and Anna (Muehlbauer) Meyer. Jerry was a 1951 graduate of Reedsville High School and served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Electra from 1951 to 1955. On November 24, 1955 he married the former LaVerne C. Wittmann at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Askeaton, WI.

Jerry was employed at the Kohler Co. as a foreman in the trucking department prior to his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish in Kiel, the Knights of Columbus, the Am Vets Post #1032 in Reedsville, the VFW in Kiel, and the Kohler Quarter Century Club. He also did volunteer work at St. Vincent DePaul and with Ss. Peter & Paul Parish as usher and altar server in Kiel, WI.

Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, playing cards especially with his children, making bluebird houses, and spending time with his family.

During Jerry's long battle with cancer, he always remained optimistic and was a true inspiration to his family. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Father Loren, the nurses at the St. Nicholas Dialysis Center, the staff at Matthew's Oncology, and the St. Nicholas Hospital Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care of Jerry.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerne; a daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Graff of Elkhart Lake; a son, Daniel (Vickie) Meyer of Howards Grove; 4 grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Wray, nee Graff of Waukesha, Jeremy Graff of Howards Grove, Becky Meyer of Howards Grove and her fiancé Jake Murray, and Sarah Meyer of Green Bay; 1 great grandchild: Allison Wray of Waukesha; a sister: Marion Kreger of Naperville, IL; four sisters-in-law: Arlene Fink of Kaukauna, Gloria (Donald) Steinfest of Brillion, Dorothy (Allan) Zahn of Brillion, and Verdayne Meyer of Sheboygan Falls; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Wittmann of Kaukauna, Bob Valleskey of Kiel and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his immediate family of one brother: Claude Meyer and three sisters: Olive Valleskey, Rita Pritzl, Millie Eichhorst along with several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, (413 Fremont St.) Kiel. The Rev. Loren Nys, S.D.S. will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. The Wieting Family Funeral Home in Kiel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials are appreciated in Jerry's name.
