MAXINE BOOK, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully at home Monday, June 1, 2015. She was born August 30, 1927 in Muncie, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Pauline (Metzger) and Bob Minton. After graduating high school at the age of 16, Max played softball on an all girls softball team, the Fort Wayne Daisies, where she was the catcher. Maxine was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church and was also an Associate with the Poor Handmaids for over 20 years. She worked at a number of banks in Fort Wayne as a supervisor and also volunteered for many years at the Embassy Theater in Fort Wayne. After retiring she spent some time at home and then went back to work at Star Financial as a receptionist. Maxine loved to travel and enjoyed spending time in Gatlinburg with her family.

She will be greatly missed by surviving husband of 61 years, Berdett Book; daughters, Marsha (Gary) Koch, Velda Book; sons Randy Book, all of Fort Wayne, Dan (Vicki) Book of Grabill; grandchildren; Molly (Ryan) Mattax of Greenwood, Nathan Koch, Brandy Book, both of Fort Wayne, Gabrielle (fiancé Ryan Schaadt), Morgan, Madeline, and Audri Book, all of Grabill; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Yessenia, and Phoenix; brother Ronald (Ike) Minton, sister Judy Wood, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Phillip, Larry, Donald (Mike); sisters, Betty Jean, Rosemary, JoAnn, Doris, and Phyllis.

Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling starting at 10 a.m. until service time. A visitation will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Comfort Keepers and Visiting Nurse.
