John E. Bolger, 86, 1426 Chestnut St., died at 1010 p.m. Monday after a long illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1876, in Portland, Wis., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bolger. Lived 48 years in Rockford, coming here from Madison, Wis. Married to the former Margaret Norton in Columbus, Wis., Feb. 16, 1909. He operated a number of meat markets in Rockford for 40 years. Most recently he operated the Bolger & Son Meat Market on W. State St., retiring 10 years ago. Member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and of the Western Catholic Union.
Survivors include: his widow; a son John Jr., Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Springfield, and Mrs. Vincent Crapp, Rockford; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchileren. Five brothers and three sisters died previously.
Services at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 20 in Long-Klontz Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
