Donald was born in Los Angeles, CA and spent his childhood years in Hibbing, Minnesota and Chicago, Illinois. He served five years in the United States Air Force after which he worked at IBM, Seibels Bruce Group and Policy Management Systems until his retirement in 1997.
Mr. Coggiola is survived by his loving wife Ann; daughter Diedre C. Cheatham (Robert); and son Anthony Donald Coggiola (Sherrye Goldstein), children of Virginia McDavid; daughter Jennifer C. Morgan (Rrand); and son John Gabriel "Gabe" (Lauren Bunch), children of Lesley M. Coggiola. He was preceded in death by his parents Mafalda Fraboni and Anton Donald Coggiola.
"Cog", who was also lovingly referred to as "Papi, Grandpa, and Papa Don," often said his greatest joy in life was being surrounded by what he referred to as the "lights of his life," his grandchildren: Winston Tyler Coggiola; Sydney Payne Coggiola; Sarah Embry Chestham; Brand McAllister Morgan; John Gabriel "Jack" Morgan; English Bethea Morgan; Louise Wyatt Coggiola; Magdalena "Maggie" Gray Coggiola; and a grandchild arriving in October.
Aside from his wonderful family and close friends of over 60 years, Don will be missed by the other love of his life, his Airedale "Harley".
An avid golfer, reader and connoisseur of all things Italian, Don had a strong presence in his community. He was a member of the Kiawah Island Club, and Briar's Creek Golf Club where he served as Chair of Membership Committee. He also was an outspoken, passionate and loyal member of his peer groups The P.I.P's and The Back Nine.
