Charles, 87, of Woodland went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Butterworth Campus of Spectrum Health. He was born to Melvin and Helen (Reed) Bursley.

Charles was a 1953 graduate of Nashville High School then proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Elizabeth Brodbeck on July 17, 1955 and she preceded him in death in 2004. Charles was a lifelong dairy farmer and worked 25 years for the fertilizer plant in Woodbury. He loved Percheron horses, having two named Jack and Charlie and camping at Praireville farm days. Reading and later watching westerns also made Charles happy.

He will be lovingly remembered by: his children; Janine Frizzell, Roxanne (Michael) Johnson, Diane (Don) Griffin, Leroy (Melba) Bursley and Dale (Kay) Bursley, 14 grandchildren, 29 ½ great-grandchildren, siblings; Shirley (Lyle) Royston, Richard Bursley, Helen Matter and Deb Frens, sister in law Ellen Jean Conklin along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Charles in death are: his wife, parents and siblings Bob Bursley and Judy Nowak, grandchild Justin Hokanson, parent in laws Richard and Mildred Brodbeck.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2020 at Woodland Memorial Park until time of service.

Donations to Zion Lutheran Church can be made in Charles’s name.
