In 1860 Samuel married his 1st cousin, Emma Swigert Weisiger, the wedding taking place in Mission Valley, Tex. Emma was the dau of Daniel Kendall Weisiger "IV" (b: ABT 1797) and Mary H. Castleman (b: 1802 in Shelby Co., Kentucky).
Samuel's half-sister (Sarah Elizabeth "Eliza" Weisiger) married Emma's brother, Daniel Weisiger, Jr. (b. 1824).

Samuel served in CSA in the War, then fled Texas in 1866 to live with Kentucky cousins during Reconstruction as he was wanted. His brother Robt Alexander Weisiger was robbed & murdered as he returned from the War causing family to settle as a matter of honor, unpopular with Fed occupation troops.

In 1877 or 78 he & brother Reed ran Incomode in the Kentucky Derby, Louisville (Jefferson Co.), Kentucky.

He & Emma had 4 children:

Married Miss Emma, youngest daughter of the late Daniel Weisiger, of Mission Valley, Victoria county. His family consists of three sons, David, Sam and Robert. He resides upon the Weisiger Ranche," seven miles north of Victoria, on the east side of the Guadalupe river and is with his brother, Capt. R. N. Weisiger, engaged in rearing improved stock, many of which come direct from the stables of their kinsman, Mr. Alexander, of Kentucky, and in reputation are unsurpassed by any in the world. Their celebrated race horse, Incomodate has won purses upon most of the first class courses in the United States, and possess a national reputation.
