When he was six weeks old, Dick's family moved by covered wagon from Oklahoma to Lamar, Barton County, Missouri. He married Bertha Mae Faubion February 13, 1939, at Lamar. They moved to Parsons in 1959.
He served in the US Army in Europe during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
I loved the stories he told about growing up with his five brothers and seven sisters. He and his brothers were good at thinking up a new prank, and they loved to tease their sisters. Uncle Dick was quick with a laugh and always had a hug to give.
