Arthur Burch, 79, died at his home in Laurel at 9:30 a.m. today after several months of failing health.
A retired farmer, he also formerly was employed as caretaker of the cemeteries at Laurel. Mr. Burch spent most of his life in Laurel, Metamora and Orange, and was a member of the Metamora Baptist Church.
He was born in Owsley County, Kentucky, on August 26, 1888, a son of Jasper and Emily Oldham Burch, and was married June 12, 1912, to Margaret Brewster, who survives.
Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Nora) Hannefey of Laurel; seven brothers, Walter, Thomas and Claude Burch of Greensburg, Wilson and Walker Burch of Laurel and Leonard and Clyde Burch of Liberty, six grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
Two stepsons and one sister preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moster and Sons Mortuary in Laurel, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday, with burial in Laurel North Cemetery.
