Cpl. Jason W. Morrow, 27, of Riverside, Calif., died June 27 from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq, on June 26. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Cpl. Jason W. Morrow of Riverside, California loved baseball. His love of the sport prompted him to pop the question to wife Evelyn on the field at Angel Stadium of Anaheim and his love of country carried him through three tours in Iraq. Jason had been home in February for a visit and was expected to make a return trip to Riverside in 35 days. He was family oriented and a sports enthusiast who loved to surf and golf and a 1998 graduate of Buena Vista High School in Corona and also attended La Sierra High School where he wrestled, played baseball and football. Jason lived another dream last year when he threw the opening pitch at an Angels versus White Sox game. Morrow's awards include the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Besides wife Evelyn and dad William, Jason Morrow is survived by his mother, Kristin; sisters Katie, Renee, Stephanie and Ashley, and brother Garrett. He was 27.
