"Waldemar Benkert passed away at Saginaw General Hospital late Monday evening, April 5, 1976, after a short illness. Age 60 years. He was born Jan. 7, 1916, in Saginaw County and had been a lifelong resident. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He had been employed by the Saginaw Steering Gear Co. for 33 years, retiring three years ago. He married Miss Alma Buchholz, Feb. 18, 1950. She survives him. He was a lifelong member of SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Surviving besides his wife, are one brother and two sisters, Irving Benkert, Saginaw; Mrs. Ray (Florence) Perry, Merrill; Mrs. Bernard (Margaret) Fedewa, St. Charles; one half-brother and five half-sisters, Warren Benkert, Hemlock; Mrs. Frank (Janice) Delong, Mrs. Frank (Donna) Pack, Mrs. John (Joyce) Lash; Mrs. Donald (Joann) Huggard, all of Saginaw; Mrs. James (Sandra) Fisk, Bay City; many nieces; and nephews.
Funeral service will take place 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Case Chapel, 409 Adams St., 9:00 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Rev Floyd Welna will officiate with burial in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 7:00 p.m. Tuesday where they will meet with relatives at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday for a prayer service. Those who so desire may make memorials to S. Peter and Paul's Building Fund."
