Willard Eugene “Gene” Rushing- age 79 of Liberty, Texas passed away Monday June 1, 2015 at Liberty Healthcare.

Gene was born in Carthage, Texas September 4, 1935 the son of the late Willard Columbus Rushing and Mattie Pearl Amburn Rushing. Gene was a hard worker, who was kind, generous, and tender hearted. Gene worked for over forty-five years as a contract welder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ollie Columbus Rushing, sister Gracie Gertrude Rushing Powell, and a cousin Billy Charles Rushing. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of sixty-two years Maudie Shane Rushing, daughters Vicki Rushing Love and husband Charles, Gwendolyn Rushing Ellis and husband Danny, Jai Rushing McCarthy, and a son Shane Eugene Rushing. In addition Gene leaves eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He will sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Burial will follow the service in Hardin Chapel Cemetery.
