Roger E. Whitaker, age 79, passed away on April 12, 2010 after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Springfield, Ohio on July 20, 1930 to Earl D. and Pauline (Estep) Whitaker.
He was raised in Tazewell, Tennessee before returning to Springfield where he enlisted in the United States Army.
Roger was a machinist for over thirty five years and retired from Cooper Industries.
Roger is survived by his former wife, Patricia (McKinster) Whitaker and their three children:
Katherine Sue (Whitaker) West,
Julia Ann (Whitaker) Moore,
Roger E. Whitaker Jr. all of Springfield
Roger also leaves four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one sister; Caroline (Whitaker) Smith.
He was preceded by his sister, Gladys (Whitaker) Thomas, one brother Larry Whitaker, a son-in-law John W. Moore and his best dog "Zach".
