Raymond Dustin “Dusty” Arnold

1932 - 2016


Raymond Dustin “Dusty” Arnold was born in January 1932 in Lynn, MA to Charles Raymond and Verna Dustin Miller Arnold.

Dusty spent much of his young years in Danvers, MA. He graduated from the Northeastern University School of Engineering in Boston with a degree in electrical engineering. His first job was with General Electric in Syracuse, NY. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958. He married Ruth Partridge in Danvers, MA and had three children, Craig, Laurel, and Eric.

Dusty and family moved to Texas in 1967. He worked for Texas Instruments and later went into other fields. He retired from HDW of Pennsylvania, where he used specialized equipment for locating cable faults. Dusty was awarded several patents during his corporate career.

In 1992, he married Helen E. Staten. Dusty and Helen moved to Sulphur Springs in 1994 and later to Lake Fork in the Yantis area. They were members of Lake Fork Baptist Church.

Dusty is survived by his son, Craig Arnold, and Craig’s partner, Lucinda Hastings; daughter, Laurel Arnold Clement, her son, Dustin Charles Clement, of Murphy, TX, and Laurel’s former husband, Charles Allen Clement; and son, Eric Arnold, and his wife, Marci, of Plano, TX. Dusty is also survived by the mother of his children, Ruth Partridge Arnold of Richardson, TX. Dusty leaves behind his sister, Jane Arnold Smith; his brother, Roger Arnold, and wife, Aline; several nieces and nephews; stepdaughter, DeVia Murry; step grandson, Bradley Murry; step great-granddaughter, Shaunée Murry; and many treasured friends including Charles and Susan Wilburn, and Mark and Brenda Meng.
Dusty was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and his former wife, Mary Jo; his parents; his sister, Linda Arnold Freeman; and his stepson Frank King.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Craig Arnold officiating.
Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, TX.
