Victim in the Nebraska Mall shooting.

Dianne Clavin Trent, 53, of Omaha, was a former airline stewardess who returned to Omaha about eight years ago to be closer to her family after her husband, Pete, died unexpectedly.

"She was very beautiful," said her nephew Mike Taylor of Omaha. "She liked to travel a lot. Her favorite thing in the world was shopping β€” and she worked there, too."

Trent had worked in customer service at Von Maur for eight years.

"She had really great people skills. She was always smiling. You really couldn't turn her down for anything," Taylor said.

Three of Trent's four sisters and her one brother live in Omaha. Taylor said his mother, Kathy Taylor, Trent and their sisters enjoyed shopping together at Von Maur.

Trent and her husband had lived in Bogota, Colombia, where he worked in drug enforcement, spraying drug fields from an airplane, Taylor said.

After she returned to Omaha, Trent treated her nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews as if they were her children and grandchildren, he said.

"We did a lot of vacationing at lakes," Taylor said. "Her favorite thing was boating, but she preferred to stay on the raft and read a book and get some sun and get a tan. She was very generous, particularly considering she wasn't making very much money."

Trent is survived by her sisters, Kathy Taylor, Kellie Schlecht and Sandi Clark, all of Omaha; Eileen Litwa of Clifton Park, N.Y.; and her brother, Bill Clavin, of Omaha.
