WIFE of John Wesley McGuire.
MOTHER of 10, including James William, Mary L.E. "Mollie", and Margaret Bell "Maggie" (Smith).
In 1901, Jane and husband John separated. They do not appear to have lived together again, although they did not divorce. Son Jim built a very small house behind his house for Jane & Maggie (basically just a private place to sleep--was later used as a smokehouse). During the time she lived at Jim's, one source of Jane's income was as caretaker of the Gatlin Cemetery. About 1910, Jane went to live with Maggie (who'd married in 1909) and John moved into the house behind Jim's. Near the end of her husband's life, Jane briefly moved back to son Jim's house to help care for John. She was there in the 1920 census, giving some researchers the (mistaken) impression that they reconciled.
