142nd Infantry Regiment; 36th Division
Half-brother to George Edwin Davenport
In 1995 the Choctaw War Memorial was erected at the Choctaw Capitol Building in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma. It includes a huge section of granite dedicated to the Choctaw Code Talkers.
Eighteen names appear on the marker - 16 members of the 142nd Infantry Regiment and two members of the 143rd Infantry Regiment earned immortality as "Code Talkers." Both Regiments were part of the 36th Division.
Ranging in age from nineteen to thirty-three years of age, the 16 Code Talkers from the 142nd were:
-Albert Billy, 1885-1959;
-Mitchell Bobb , full blood Choctaw, roll #3581, born 1895 in Fowlerville, Towson County, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, to Ellis and Ellen Bobb. He was ward of Hosea L. Fowler from 1902 till age of majority; married to Agnes Wallace; died March 24, 1922; two daughters Nora and Ethel, who were raised by his cousin, Johnson Bobb, who also served in France with the 36th Division.
