The son of Sueyoski and Tochiko Asaoka, Kanao was a US Army veteran and in civilian life had been a counselor with the State Office of Veterans Services. Survived by his son Mark; daughters Trudy, Iris, and Ardis; sister Mitsuko, as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
