Fredericksburg-- Funeral services were conducted here Friday for Benedict Hagel, Sr., 75, retired hotel operator of Fredericksburg who was killed in a highway accident Wednesday. The Rev. Monsignor F. X. Wolf officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
A native of Germany, Mr. Hagel had resided at Cuero after his immigration to the United States and until he moved her in 1918. He was married at Cuero to the former Miss Apolonia Koenig on April 16, 1907. He had operated several farms here until the time he became owner of the hotel. He retired a year ago.
Survivors include the widow; two sons, Naval Lt. Edward R. Hagel of Philadelphia, and Ben C. Hagel of Fredericksburg; six daughters, Mrs. Bruno Fritz and Mrs. Frank Jenschke, both of Fredericksburg; Mrs. Emil Sauer, Doss, and Mrs. Charles Jenschke, Mrs. Henry Zaintz and Miss Josephine Hagel, all of San Antonio, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Zucker of Victoria.
