Annie, her husband Alonza and their son Alonza Jr.were involved in a multi-faceted, years-long family dispute that caught national attention and could fill a book. In very brief, Annie was Alonza Sr's third wife. He was a very wealthy man and a dedicated spiritualist who said he made his money on the advice of his own father's ghost. He also held seances and claimed he spent his evenings with the spirit of Cleopatra and other famous women of the past. He also threatened to disinherit his son unless he "manned up." There was even a lurid fight over the body with a sheriff trying to stop a train. Annie and her son had a much quieter life after that, moving to the spiritualist community of Lily Dale NY. (There is a more detailed history posted on her son Alonzo Jr's page )

Her mother was Sallie Baker-Heard (Much thanks for this and other family info from contributor Mary Ann Janous )
