He was killed in the Allen Family Massacre by Indians aligned with England's Burgoyne along with his parents, 2 siblings, a young aunt and 2 or 3 of his grandfather's slaves. This barbaric act helped arouse the patriots to their cause with two victorious battles at Saratoga in 1777.
