Daughter of Benjamin Ruggles and Elizabeth Durkee ~ Margaret last appears on the 1840 St. Clairsville census in the home of her son Attorney Adam Johnston (AKA Colonel Adam Johnston) and had to have died prior to 1848 due to being buried between her daughter's Narcissa who died in 1845 and Caroline who died in 1848. Margaret's brother U.S. Senator Benjamin Ruggles likely played a role in her son Adam's appointment by President Zachary Taylor as U.S. Indian Agent in 1849.
