John Bany, a well-known resident of this city, who has been ill for several months, passed away at the family residence on Thursday. Mr. Bany was born September 1, 1849, in Mercer County, Ohio, and in the year 1875, he married Mary Wourms, of Mercer County.
Mr. and Mrs. Bany started for the West 18 years ago and first settled at Sublimity, Oregon, where they resided for one and one-half years. They then made their home in Canby, where they have made their home ever since.
Besides a widow, the deceased leaves the following children: John, Sebastian, Fred, Adam, Isadore, Misses Lena, Annie, Lizzie, Alma, of Canby, and Mrs. Michaels, of Oregon City.
The funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, with Rev. A. Hillebrand, of Oregon City, officiating. The interment was in the Catholic cemetery at New Era. Many friends of the family attended. The floral offerings were beautiful and were a token of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
