Ann was born March 3, 1938, in Alton, Ill., the daughter of the late Eugene Fahnestock and wife Helen, nee Burke. Ann received her degree in nursing from St. Louis University. She was employed as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital. Ann was united in marriage to Bill Monroig May 6, 1961, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Wood River, Ill. Ann was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Krakow, and a member of the church's Ladies Sodality.
Ann is survived by three sons, Gregory Monroig and wife Sandra, Bridgeton, Kevin Monroig and wife Denise, and Mark Monroig, all of Krakow; five daughters, Karen Roedel and husband Chuck, Jefferson City, Patricia Monroig Bleckman, Cynthia Schiermeier and husband Stacy, Susan Hellebusch and husband Rick, all of Washington, and Bridget Nave and husband John, St. Charles; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Tom Fahnestock and wife Carolyn, Alton, Ill.; one sister, Mary Gill and husband Mike, Burlington, Ontario, Canada; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Monroig, January 2015; her parents; and one brother, Eugene Fahnestock.
A funeral Mass was held Thursday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow, with the Rev. Philip Krill officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Masses may be said or memorials given to the St. Gertrude School Tuition Assistance program.
The Monroig family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
