"
Mr. Peter Wourms, who had suffered from cancer of the throat for the last five months, died on Sunday evening, April 25th, at the age of 70 years. He was one of the oldest, most widely known and highly respected residents of Sharpsburg. Mr. Wourms was born in France on Jan. 17, 1827. At the age of 14 years came to eastern Ohio, and in 1863 to Mercer County and lived on his farm ever since. He has held a number of township offices. He was the father of twelve children, nine sons and three daughters, ten of whom survive him. Mr. Wourms was a member of the Catholic church and was buried from that church in Violet Tuesday morning. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family and all unite in the farewall tribute to the deceased."

Peter and Mary's firstborn child,a son,purported to be Peter W. Wourms Jr.,died young.
The rest of their children are all accounted for,and linked to their parents.
