Geraldine Ruth “Jerry” Adam, age 90, of The Waterford at Mansfield and former longtime Shelby resident, died Monday morning, June 15, 2015 at her home.
Jerry was born July 31, 1924 in Kenton, Ohio, the daughter of the late John S. and Ruth (McPheron) Smith. She was a 1942 graduate of Shelby High School. Jerry was a homemaker and had been employed at Shelby Mutual Insurance and Shelby Daycare. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby and had been active in Circle #1 at the church.
Jerry is survived by: 3 children: John Adam of Canton, MI, Jeff (Dawn) Adam of Mansfield, and Jane Adam of Mansfield; 6 grandchildren: Andrea, Steven, Joshua, Spencer, Dominique, and Nicole; 3 great grandchildren; a sister: Judy (Boyd) McClaskey of Harbor Springs, MI; and a sister-in-law: Jean Smith of Shelby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Russell “Sam” Adam in 2001; 2 sons, Joseph Adam in 1996 and James Adam in 1993; and 2 brothers: Ross Smith and Dr. John Smith.
Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 10 AM at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with Rev. Carl Beighley officiating. A reception will follow at The Waterford at Mansfield, 1296 South Trimble, Mansfield, Ohio, 44906 immediately following the graveside service.
