James was born on January 3, 1925 in Mishawaka to Thomas and Emma (Sellers) Doyle.
He was employed by Studebaker, Bendix and the University of Notre Dame. Jim was a World War II and Korean War veteran who enjoyed traveling with his wife, woodworking and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. On May 1, 1954 he married the former Elizabeth Blankert. She died on November 14, 2012. Jim was also preceded in death by a daughter Kathleen Marie Doyle, 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters Martha Moore and Marge Mulderink and 3 brothers Thomas E. Doyle, Jr., John Doyle and Harry Doyle.
Surviving are 5 daughters Laureen (Ray) Lewandowski, Colleen Doyle, Michaeleen “Mickey” Doyle and Maureen “Mary” (Curt) Hasler all of South Bend and Eileen (Curt) Feece of Plymouth, 4 sons Thomas (Darlene) Doyle, Daniel (Cynthia) Doyle, and Sean (Anne) Doyle all of South Bend and Brion “Casey” (Amanda) Doyle of Mishawaka, 35 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters Mary (John) Moran of Ohio and Rose (Richard) Barson of Seattle, WA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday, June 19, 2015 in Our Lady of Hungary Church.
Burial of his cremated remains will follow in Highland Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 4-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 4:00pm Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice or Wounded Warriors.
