John Blair Buckley, 75, well-known resident and retired business man of Hayti, died Saturday, April 14, and his funeral was held Monday afternoon in the United Methodist Church there with Dr. Don Enright officiating. Burial was in East Woodlawn Cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home service.
Masonic services were held Sunday evening, April 15, in the funeral home.
The son of John T. and Ruth Buckley, he was born October 6, 1897, near Henderson, Tenn. On September 8, 1920, in Hayti,, he was married to Miss Bonnie Hart.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Hayti and was the last charter member of the Hayti Lions Club. He also served as a director of the Hayti Building and Loan Assn., was organizer and long time director of the Hayti Industrial Association and was president of the Hayti school board for sixteen years.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Buckley of Hayti, a son, Lt. Col. Blair Buckley Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Bryden (Barbara) Pease Jr. of Gulfport, Miss., and seven grandchildren.
