Inscription

Absalom Boling was a Union soldier in the Civil War and was captured during the fight for Atlanta, he spent 9 months as a POW at Andersonville prison, and upon his release was on board the steamboat Sultana when it exploded in the Mississippi River on April 29th, 1865. He survived, and returned to Kentucky.
