Alfred Winton Bulfinch, born 9 November 1924, in Madera, California to Frederick Eugene Bulfinch and Martha Harriet "Birdie" Appling, died 11 November 1998, in Harris, Texas, in a head-on car collision by a driver in the wrong lane. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Paula Jean Evans and four children Paula Ann (David) Ritchie, Kathy Jean (Dave) Scott), Terry Jean (Daryl) Anderson, and Stephen Alfred (Marie) Bulfinch. He had 13 surviving grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Susan Freida (Robert) Shockley; grandson Patrick Allen McBride, son of Paula Ann; and sister Dorothy Jean (Clyde) Childers.

Winton, as he was called most of his life, served in the Army during WWII in the Pacific arena and earned the Purple Heart twice. He owned his own custodial business until he and his wife were hit by a car and then switched to electronics. He was a talented musician, playing almost any instrument without lessons or tutoring. He loved to play chess and was intrigued by its analytical nature. He loved camping and being with his family.

Later in life, things in life changed, and he became an alcoholic. He joined AA, became "Al." He went back to college and earned a degree in Alcoholism Counseling. He was passionate about that work.

In 1994, he and his wife moved to Texas where their son Stephen and his family were living. He enjoyed being near family, continued the "AA" association, and turned his life over to the Lord.
