Sgt. Alfonso D. Casanova, son of Mrs. Simona Casanova, San Antonio, was born Feb. 15, 1921. Volunteered for service Dec. 11, 1941. Assigned to Army 4th Armored Division. Trained at Camo Roberts, Calif. Served overseas from Dec., 1943, to June, 1945, in European Theater, battles of N. France, Normandy, Ardennes, and C. Europe. Missing and wounded Mar., 1945. POW for 1 month in Germany. Received Purple Heart, Bronze and Silver Star Medal, ETO 5 Battle Stars, Distinguished Unit Citations. Discharged Oct. 17, 1945.
