He married Magdalene Olsen Westenskow on 22 Oct 1864 in Manti Utah. He then married Annie Christina Iverson on 26 Jun 1879 in St George Utah. He then married Anna Maria Sorensen on 30 Jan 1885 in St George Utah.

He is the father of Marcus Orlando, William Jacob, Eliza Johanna (Westover), Matilda Magdalene (Mortensen), William Peter, Clara Ann ((Gheen), Florina Cecelia (Bentley), Mary, Martha, Thomas and Walter Richard, Luella Christine, Merrill Ezra, Florence Ellaneve and Mina Ella Funk.
