Born in Pottsville, May 9, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Gable Weiss.
Lena was a member of the former Kehillat Israel Synagogue, Shenandoah, where she served on the Hadassah committee. Lena was believed to be the last Jewish resident of Shenandoah.
A graduate of Pottsville High School, she was an office administrator for the family business, Locustdale Meat Packing Co., where she worked alongside her husband whose father started the business. The family will long be remembered for their dedication to the business and their customers.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Isadore Abrams, to whom she was married for 67 years, Lena was preceded in death by brothers, Louis, Max, Phil and Isadore Weiss.
Lena is survived by a daughter, Sheryl A., wife of Philip Gilman, Merion Station; two sons, David Abrams, husband of Penny, Mount Lebanon, and Robert Abrams, Ventnor City, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Geoffrey T. Abrams, husband of Amber, Mindy, wife of Darryl Dorish, Joshua Abrams, husband of Rachel, Rachel, wife of Eliyahu Sandel, Avi, Simi and Elana Abrams, Julia, Todd, and Blake Gilman; five great-grandchildren, Bryce, Maddie, Ben, Rivka and Zoe.
Funeral services were held at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with the Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating. Interment in Kehillat Israel Cemetery, Shenandoah.
